Amy and Luke

It’s only been a couple months, but I actually miss planning Amy and Luke’s wedding. That’s partially because they were insanely organized and booked their wedding almost two years out (not surprising as we got to know them) and partially because they shared so much of themselves with us during the process. We watched as they practiced their 1st dance in the ballroom, followed Luke’s updates on their website and talked colors and styles. We even managed to switch roles for a minute so Luke could basically plan my incredible trip to Australia (where he’s from) complete with how to drink my coffee, (an obsession we now share) and a million other fantastic insights.

Amy and Luke are ridiculously, obviously, in love- in the best way possible. It radiates. It makes you happy. I remember standing in the ballroom during set up and Cornelia McNamara (the amazingly talented florist they worked with) turning to me and saying “Doesn’t being around these two remind you why you love weddings?” It was a small affair, a perfect dinner party- understated, classic and because of it’s intimacy, quite glamorous. They softened the walls with sheer fabric drapes and warm gold light, Cornelia out did herself with lush collections of deep wine, and aubergine, lilac and soft silvery green. Guests dined on fall inspired selections from Food for Thought and Clementine Custom Events made sure the day went smoothly.

When I was deciding which wedding should go up on the blog for the Thanksgiving week, this one jumped out for a few reasons; the rich palette and the dinner-party style -captured so beautifully by Brett and Kiri from Pen / Carlson Photography, but most importantly the energy that filled that day. Everyone that worked with these two was grateful to be a part of something crafted with so much care, and so full of love.

Have a look, be inspired, and take a moment to be thankful for the things that make you smile. Happy Thanksgiving.

Jessica and Matt

In honor of All Hallow’s Eve, we thought it would be fun to post a few pictures from Jessica and Matt’s Halloween weekend wedding last year. Many of you will have already seen some of these images in CS Brides but we couldn’t resist sharing a few more. This was hands-down one of the most creative weddings I’ve seen. Somehow, Jess managed to make Halloween decor sophisticated and sexy. Every detail from the hand illustrated invitations to the font on the place cards to those incredible feather adorned bouquets had her stamp on it. When a wedding is this personalized you really get to know the couple- we had a blast working with Jess and Matt and it was so much fun to relive the evening just a little while we put this together. They carried the theme through to the end with a custom menu by Entertaining Company complete with caramel apples to take home. A huge thank you once again to David Wittig Photography for these amazing images, and Kehoe designs for the beautiful decor. Happy Halloween!

Jeri and Andy

Sometimes joy is actually palpable. And that was the case on the evening Jeri and Andy got married at The Ivy Room. Weddings are always happy occasions, but I think I can say with total certainty that I have never seen anyone smile more than Andy did that night- he literally never stopped- and the delight on his face was reflected in everyone and every thing in the room. To be fair, he had good reason- he was marrying a stunning woman, who incidentally did an amazing job of carrying her vision through to every detail- right down to sprigs of lavender in the champagne flutes. Hues of purple found their way into the room through lush floral by A Stem Above and soft lighting by VLS. DJ Roberto Monastero spun guests onto the dance floor and Chrissy from Big City Bride made sure the evening went perfectly. Guests dined on savory selections from Blue Plate Catering and Amy Beck‘s cake made for a sweet ending. A big thank you to Robyn Rachel for capturing every minute so beautifully…

Jada and Dave

Sometimes you know from the minute they walk in the door that a couple is going to get married here – and that was the case with Jada and Dave. Their energy just fit and we fell for them as quickly as they fell for The Ivy Room. I could wax poetic for a long time about these two but Emily Johnston Anderson does such a beautiful job telling their story through these photographs that I think I’ll let them do most of it for me.

I will say, on the day of their wedding the weather wasn’t cooperating, and if any of you follow us on FB or Twitter you know we do everything in our power (including some choice dancing by Matt) to get every ceremony outside, but sometimes, even we can’t get it done. When we made the call, Cornelia McNamara did an incredible job of transforming the ballroom into a beautiful, intimate, candlelit space and when Jada walked up those stairs on her father’s arm, everyone gasped. When we spoke afterwards Jada said something that made me smile: “At first I was sad that we weren’t going to be outside, but then I walked into that room and everyone was so close, I could hear every breath and it felt so warm and so full of love. It was perfect” …and it was. More than all the flowers and the food and the music, these days are about two people lucky enough to have found each other and celebrate it surrounded by the people they love most; and that was a nice reminder. But, there was also wonderful food from Berghoff, and some serious dancing inspired by Toast and Jam at the DJ booth. All of those things put together made for an amazing night – take a look!

Gera and Joe

I’ve been waiting for this weekend just so I could finally post Gera and Joe’s sophisticated 4th of July wedding. I’ll admit to being a little nervous when Gera 1st told me she was thinking red, white and blue; but as the process of planning her wedding began, her killer sense of style and taste became very clear, and after that I was just excited! She divided the day by color, white for the ceremony, blue for the cocktail hour and bridesmaid dresses and a red reception. It was like getting invited to three equally incredible parties. Blooms by Tina and Dollie did an amazing job with floral, Sound Investment washed each room in beautiful colors and guests danced to Cage and Aquarium’s celebratory tunes. Gera is an artist in her own right and from folding 1000 bright red paper cranes, to creating vintage style signage for each of Entertaining Company’s 4th inspired stations, she thought of every detail. Lola Event Productions made sure the day ran smoothly and Take the Cake wowed us again- this time with fireworks. A big thank you to Jay Crihfield for these lovely photographs. Happy 4th of July everyone- have a wonderful holiday!
